Apple Crisp Macchiato
Any Season
Ingredients
- 1 large granny smith apple diced (For the Apple Syrup)
- 1 cup apple cider (For the Apple Syrup)
- 1/2 cup water (For the Apple Syrup)
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (For the Apple Syrup)
- 2 cinnamon sticks (For the Apple Syrup)
- 1/2 cup milk (For the Macchiato)
- 2-3 teaspoons apple syrup or to taste (For the Macchiato)
- 1 shot freshly brewed espresso (For the Macchiato)
Steps
- For the Apple Syrup: Combine the diced apple, apple cider, water, brown sugar, and cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan set over medium heat.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 10 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the sugar is dissolved. Remove the syrup from the heat and set it aside to steep for 15 minutes.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, making sure to press out the apples to extract all of the flavor!
- Place the syrup in an airtight container in the fridge to chill until you're ready to make the macchiato.
- For the Macchiato: Combine the milk and apple syrup in a tall glass.
- Fill the glass with ice and top with the espresso. Drizzle over additional syrup, if desired.
- Enjoy immediately.
